Bhutan envisions to become gOrganich by 2020. Gasa, which we set as an investigation place, has already been declared an gOrganic Dzongkhag (District)h in 2008. Phosphorus is one of the major nutrients for crop growth but is often poorly available in arable soils. It is well known that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) which colonize plant roots symbiotically stimulate phosphorus uptake through their hyphae. In this study, for effective utilization of AMF, we intend to clarify the distribution, population density and species composition of AMF on the pilot farms for organic agriculture in Gasa, Bhutan.
