As the Thai government aims at structural transformation into knowledge-intensive industry, industrialization is proceeding faster in Thailand than in other ASEAN countries, supported by foreign direct investments. The formulation of technologies and skills is also relatively advanced. Recently, Thailand has been called the gDetroit of Asia,h with the automobile industry developing rapidly as a center for production and export in Asia. While the relevant foreign direct investments are also booming, the formulation of technologies and skills for human resources is lagging behind. In particular, it is urgently necessary to improve local technologies and skills for the automotive parts industry, at the basis of the car industry. This study aims at focusing on the automotive parts industry in Thailand, and researching and analyzing the formulation of technologies for design and development engineers, as well as the process of technological transfer to engineers.
